Portable Fire Equipment (PFE)
Essential Fire & Electrical Services (EFES) provides a scheduled maintenance program to service all your PFE:
- Fire Extinguishers
- Fire Hoses
- Fire Hose Reels
- Lay Flat Hoses
- Fire Blankets
- Smoke Detector Testing
This service is carried out in accordance with current Australian Standards to make sure your site complies and your workplace is safer.
Electrical Test and Tag
Electrical safety in the workplace is not only required from a compliance and OH&S perspective but is vital in minimising the risk of death or serious injury caused by electrocution. At Essential Fire & Electrical Services we provide a Test and Tag service that can safely test all your portable equipment from your kitchen toaster to your computer leads that by law is required to be tested.
Types of testing performed:
- Level I
- Level II
- RCD Trip Time
Emergency & Exit Lighting
Both Emergency and Exit lighting is critical in creating a safer workplace during an emergency situation.
Exit Lighting is used to direct people out of a building in an emergency while Emergency Lighting is used to provide essential lighting for people to safely exit a building.
- Exit Lighting is required in ALL commercial buildings.
- Emergency Lighting is required in any building over 300sqm.
Once installed Exit and Emergency Lighting is required to be maintained in accordance with Victorian legislation and regulations:
- Monthly check that the all Emergency and Exit Lights operate correctly.
- 6 Monthly test to ensure that these lights remain operating for 90 minutes on battery power alone.
Many sites carry out their own monthly testing but the 6 monthly service and possible maintenance can only be undertaken by a competent person.

Fire, Smoke & Designated Exit Doors
Australian Standards and The Building Code of Australia require for periodic inspections of all Fire, Smoke and Designated Exit Doors. Essential Fire & Electrical Services have qualified staff to meet these requirements.
Certification
In today's world, Certification within the field of Fire and Electrical services is essential. Here at Essential Fire & Electrical Services we offer a complete solution to help keep track of your maintenance programs.
As per Australian Standards (AS 1851-2012) the Certificate (documentation) is required to provide the following information:
- Name of Business.
- Site Address.
- Date of Service.
- Type of Equipment.
- Location of Equipment.
- Service level carried out (Fire)
- Person's name that carried out test.
- Person's signature that carried out test.
- Comments regarding any non-compliant equipment.]
Site Audits
Essential Fire & Electrical Services would be happy to conduct an obligation free audit of your sites Fire and Electrical obligations. This may involve:
- A walk through of your site to ascertain if your current Portable Fire Equipment (PFE) and Portable Electrical Equipment (PEE) on site currently meets Australian Standards.
- Advise on what would be required to satisfactorily meet these obligations.
